SEWARD, Neb. – Concordia University junior Nolan Fuelberth earned accolades from the league office on Tuesday (Sept. 3). The conference named Fuelberth the GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Men’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week. Fuelberth has collected his third career GPAC weekly honor and second consecutive this season.
A Lincoln, Neb., native and Lincoln Southwest High School alum, Fuelberth transferred from Northern Illinois University and arrived at Concordia in the fall of 2022. The junior made eight saves (career single-game high) while helping Concordia earn a 1-1 draw at Columbia on Aug. 31. Four of those saves came in the second half as the Bulldogs preserved the tie with the perennially strong NAIA opponent. Fuelberth has allowed only one goal in 180 minutes of action this season. He was named a Second Team All-GPAC award winner in 2023 while also achieving NAIA Scholar-Athlete status. Last season, Fuelberth made 10 starts in goal and posted a goals against average of 0.80 to go along with 22 saves.
The Bulldogs will return to action on Wednesday hosting in-state opponent No. 7 Bellevue. The Bulldogs received votes in the 2024 NAIA Preseason Coaches’ Poll after finishing 2023 at 13-1-4 overall.
