Late goal lifts Iowa Wesleyan past Concordia
Iowa Wesleyan scored in the 88th minute to secure a 1-0 men’s soccer win over Concordia on Saturday afternoon. Iowa Wesleyan moved to 1-0 on the year with the victory, while Concordia slipped to 0-1-1 on the young season with the loss.
Wesleyan held an 18-6 shot advantage in the contest. Albert Michael scored off an assist by Levor Henry to give Iowa Wesleyan the win. Chris Matthews had seven total shots with four shots on goal, and Idris Labaran made four saves for the host Tigers.
Kolt O’Kelly had three total shots with two shots on goal for the Bulldogs. Concordia is still searching for its first goal of the season. Chris Podlich made eight saves for the Bulldogs in a losing effort.
Concordia travels to Kansas on September 1 for an 8 p.m. contest against McPherson College.
