Men’s soccer reveals 2015 slate
2015 Concordia men’s soccer schedule
SEWARD, Neb. – The eighth season of Concordia University men’s soccer under head coach Jason Weides is set to get underway on Aug. 26 when the Bulldogs open a 17-game 2015 regular-season schedule as announced on Thursday. Bethel College (Kan.) will serve as the opponent for the season opener at Bulldog Stadium.
Concordia will play eight of its 17 contests within the confines of Bulldog Stadium. Three of those matches will be held against non-conference foes, including the first two dates on the schedule – both in late August. New to the non-conference schedule this season are Benedictine College (Kan.) (Aug. 29), St. Ambrose University (Iowa) (Sept. 5), Bellevue University (Sept. 10) and Johnson & Wales University (Colo.) (Sept. 20).
The contest with Johnson & Wales will be the second of two in Denver, Colo., as part of a road trip scheduled for Sept. 19-20. Concordia will also play Sterling College (Kan.) on Sept. 19. Meanwhile, Bellevue and York College (Sept. 2) represent non-league in-state opponents.
Last season Weides’ squad extended its run of consecutive seasons of 10 wins or more to four. In the GPAC tournament, the Bulldogs knocked off Doane in Crete and held a lead up until the final two minutes of their 2-1 overtime conference semifinal loss at No. 11 Hastings.
Concordia will return three of its five all-conference selections from a year ago: Mark Campbell (second team), Justin Lawrie (honorable mention) and Gideon Soenksen (first team).
