SEWARD, Neb. – Five Bulldogs landed on the NAIA/NCAA Division III All-Nebraska Men’s Soccer Team and another four collected honorable mention recognition, as chosen by the Omaha World-Herald. The new outlet announced its All-Nebraska teams on Saturday (Dec. 23) and placed Concordia University representatives Jack Bennett, Florian Caraballo, Marcelo Hernandez, Micah Lehenbauer and Lewis Rathbone on its 16-member squad. The four Bulldogs to collect honorable mention accolades were Angel Alvarez, Toby Down, Carlos Ferrer and Kevin Sanchez.
Caraballo, Hernandez and Lehenbauer were also tabbed first team All-GPAC performers and second team NAIA All-Plains Region by United Soccer Coaches this past fall. Lehenbauer and Rathbone earned United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-America laurels with Lehenbauer being selected by the coaches’ association as the NAIA National Scholar Player of the Year. Repeat All-Nebraska honorees from 2016 include Caraballo, Hernandez, Lehenbauer and Rathbone.
Head coach Jason Weides’ program reached new heights in 2017 by breaking a program record for wins in a season. Along the way to a 16-3-1 final record, the Bulldogs reached the GPAC tournament championship game for the third year in a row.
