In battles between teams in the upper tier of the GPAC, Concordia will take on Morningside and Briar Cliff this week. The Bulldogs are currently in third place in the GPAC standings after a tie and a loss last week.
An underwhelming performance wasn't going to get it done at No. 5 Hastings on Saturday (Oct. 12). The host Broncos got a goal apiece from three different players in a 3-0 decision in Hastings, Neb.
In a rematch of a 2018 GPAC quarterfinal tilt, Concordia and Midland played to a 1-1 double overtime draw on Wednesday (Oct. 9). The lone Bulldog goal came on a nifty strike from Garrett Perry.
This week will have a lot to say about Concordia's chances of contending for a GPAC regular-season title. The Bulldogs will host Midland on Wednesday before traveling to play at No. 5 Hastings on Saturday.
Mount Marty put a scare into the host Bulldogs, who used a goal apiece in the 80th and 85th minutes to earn a 2-0 victory on Saturday (Oct. 5). Concordia has improved to 9-1 overall.
The men's soccer program again garnered the 2018-19 Team Academic Award from the United Soccer Coaches, as announced on Thursday (Oct. 3). Head coach Jason Weides' program also earned Scholar-Team status.
Currently sitting at 3-0 in GPAC play, the Bulldogs will end their idle stretch by welcoming Mount Marty to town on Saturday. The Lancers are much improved having taken Hastings to double overtime.
Following their first loss of 2019, the Bulldogs rebounded by routing Dordt, 5-0, in Sioux Center, Iowa, on Saturday (Sept. 28). Garrett Perry notched two goals as Concordia improved to 3-0 in league play.
Streaks of seven wins in a row overall and nine unbeaten overtime contests in a row ended on Wednesday (Sept. 25) for the Bulldogs. Concordia suffered a 2-1 home overtime loss to Kansas Wesleyan.
Kansas Wesleyan and Dordt will be the next challengers to Concordia's sparkling 7-0 record. The Bulldogs are looking to duplicate the results they enjoyed last season against this week's foes.
