As the lone undefeated team in the GPAC, Concordia has now broken a school record for longest unbeaten run to begin a season. The Bulldogs opened up conference play on Sunday (Sept. 24) with a 5-0 win over Dakota Wesleyan.
Led by GPAC players of the week Jack Bennett and Lewis Rathbone, the Bulldogs will take a 6-0-1 overall mark into Saturday's action at Dakota Wesleyan. Concordia finished third in the GPAC in 2016.
Two standouts from the undefeated Concordia men's soccer team, Jack Bennett and Lewis Rathbone, have both earned GPAC player of the week honors. Rathbone totaled five combined goals during last week's pair of wins.
The only unbeaten men's soccer team left in the GPAC resides in Seward. Behind two more goals from surging Lewis Rathbone, the Bulldogs toppled Kansas Wesleyan, 3-0, on Saturday (Sept. 16) afternoon.
Senior Lewis Rathbone is taking advantage of an opportunity to go on the attack. He recorded his first career hat trick in a 4-2 win at Waldorf on Wednesday (Sept. 13). The Bulldogs remain undefeated.
The final week of nonconference play before the GPAC schedule gets started has arrived. For the first time in the GPAC era, the Bulldogs own an unbeaten record five games into the season.
Goals from Lewis Rathbone and Marcelo Hernandez allowed the Concordia men's soccer team to dig out of a 1-0 hole and remain unbeaten (4-0-1) this season. The Bulldogs defeated Graceland, 2-1.
It will be time to get back to the playing field on Saturday. After a mid-week bye, head coach Jason Weides' squad will make a road trip to Graceland University on Saturday. Concordia is currently 3-0-1.
A first year starter at goalkeeper, junior Jack Bennett picked up his first career GPAC weekly award on Tuesday (Sept. 5). He recorded 14 saves during last week's action.
In a weekend gathering of Concordias in Chicago, the Bulldog men's soccer program emerged with a still unbeaten record. In Saturday's action, CUNE and CU-Wisconsin played to a 1-1 stalemate.
