SEWARD, Neb. – A total of five Concordia softball student-athletes garnered mention on the list of NAIA All-Nebraska team, selected by the Omaha World-Herald. The news outlet placed both junior Taylor Huff and sophomore Michaela Woodward on the 17-member squad. Another three Bulldogs collected honorable mention: junior Kylie Harpst, sophomore Autumn Owens and senior Julia Tyree.
Both Owens and Woodward were first team all-GPAC selections while Harpst, Huff and Tyree received second team billing. Woodward has now earned All-Nebraska honors in each of her first two seasons with Concordia. As a sophomore she batted .380 with six home runs and 29 RBIs. She also went 11-6 with a 4.58 ERA as a pitcher.
Owens enjoyed the best season of any Bulldog hitter. This past year she hit .392 with nine home runs and 45 RBIs while slugging .692. Owens, Woodward, Harpst (.392) and Huff (.355) all hit better than .350 for head coach Todd LaVelle’s 2016 squad, which finished at 30-18 overall. The foursome of Harpst, Huff, Owens and Woodward combined for 23 of the team’s 28 home runs.
