While opening conference play with the defending GPAC champions, Concordia fell twice in the doubleheader at Midland. The Bulldogs were unable to pull out game one despite a strong pitching performance from Camry Moore.
The first action of 2022 within the state of Nebraska is coming up this week as the Bulldogs will be at Nebraska Wesleyan on Thursday and at Midland on Saturday. Concordia owns an 11-9 overall record after going 2-6 in Tucson.
A run-rule win over No. 19 Olivet Nazarene provided the biggest highlight of Concordia's final day at the Tucson Invite. The Bulldogs were also defeated by Aquinas and will return to Nebraska with an 11-9 overall record.
Concordia played well enough to win on Thursday (March 10) but came up just short in a 4-3 eight-inning defeat at the hands of NCAA Division III Buena Vista. Camry Moore went 3-for-3 with a run while staying hot.
The Bulldogs surrendered four runs in the top of the first and committed five errors while falling at the hands of Dickinson State, 7-6, on Wednesday (March 9). Kylee Nixon, Caitlyn McGarvie and Camry Moore combined for 10 hits.
Caitlyn McGarvie struck for three hits in the day's first game and Brooke Townsend gave the Bulldogs solid work in the circle in the second contest. However, Concordia was defeated by St. Francis and Olivet Nazarene.
A 13-strikeout performance in a no-hitter has led to Camry Moore being named the GPAC Pitcher of the Week. She owns a record of 6-1 with a 1.71 ERA and 44 strikeouts so far this season.
On their first day of action at the Tucson Invite, the Bulldogs experienced both sides of run-rule contests. After falling by an 8-0 score to William Penn, Concordia responded with an 11-1 drubbing of Roosevelt on Monday (March 7).
Concordia came very close to a 4-0 weekend with the only defeat occurring in eight innings at the hands of Mount Mercy on Saturday (March 5). The Bulldogs then hammered out 18 hits and defeated Peru State, 11-3.
Camry Moore turned in the program's first seven-inning no-hitter since 2007 while mesmerizing Graceland on Friday (March 4). The Bulldogs won at the Friends Invite by scores of 4-0 over Graceland and 12-1 over Waldorf.
