2024 Men’s Tennis GPAC All-Conference Teams
SEWARD, Neb. – For their work this season on the doubles court, sophomores Santiago Abadia and Hugo Fuentes landed GPAC All-Conference recognition, as announced by the league on Tuesday (May 7). Fuentes has represented Concordia University Tennis on the all-conference honor roll for the second-straight season while Abadia has picked up the first All-GPAC award of his career. Both Abadia and Fuentes were listed as 2024 honorable mention doubles selections.
2024 All-GPAC
· Santiago Abadia (Bogota, Colombia): HM Doubles
o 2024 GPAC records: 3-3 singles | 3-3 doubles.
· Hugo Fuentes (Denia Spain): HM Doubles
o 2024 GPAC records: 4-2 singles | 3-3 doubles.
Abadia and Fuentes went 2-0 in GPAC league matches when paired together this past 2024 season. They combined to defeat their counterparts from Midland (April 16) and Hastings (April 20) at the No. 2 doubles position. Within conference singles play, Fuentes posted a 4-2 mark while Abadia went 3-3. From an overall season perspective, Abadia went 8-13 in singles and 11-9 in doubles and Fuentes went 6-14 in singles and 5-16 in doubles while playing at the top of the lineup.
Head Coach Lisa Hart’s squad finished the 2023-24 season at 8-13 overall (2-4 GPAC). The campaign came to an end in the quarterfinals of the GPAC tournament.
