SEWARD, Neb. – Yet another singles victory has helped pave the way for junior Joe Bindl to be named the GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Men’s Tennis Player of the Week, as unveiled by the league on Wednesday (April 7). Bindl is the first Bulldog men’s player to earn the award in 2021. He and Concordia women’s player Sofia Morales made for a GPAC tennis sweep of conference honors this week.
In the 6-1 team victory over Hastings on March 31, Bindl won matches at both No. 5 singles and No. 3 doubles. In a head-to-head matchup with David Loomis in singles, Bindl captured the win, 6-0, 6-3. He and teammate Luke Zoller were especially dominant in doubles, blanking their counterparts, 6-0. Bindl moved to 8-1 in singles this season and leads the team in wins. He is also 4-1 in doubles.
The Bulldogs (6-3, 2-0 GPAC) will get back to the courts on Thursday with a 1 p.m. CT match at Baker University (Kan.).
