NAIA Central-West ITA Regional Championships
SALINA, Kan. – The Bulldogs traveled to Salina, Kansas, and competed in the NAIA Central-West ITA Regional Championships on Sept. 24-26. The men’s team brought Santiago Abadia and Hugo Fuentes to represent Concordia for the three day tournament.
Fuentes, a sophomore out of Denia, Spain, made a great effort in his first match finally conceding to the No. 11 seed Andres De Los Rios Kolejewska, as the match went to a 6-7 (6-8 tiebreak), 6-3 final.
Abadia, a sophomore out of Bogota, Columbia, fell to a high No. 7 seed Stephan Mach, unable to stifle him in a 3-6, 2-6 loss for the Bulldog.
Fuentes and Abadia tag teamed for doubles at the ITA tournament, first facing No. 10 seed Santiago Tartaglia and Julian Toloza, and falling 8-6. They competed next against Oscar Giorgio and Bernardo Figueiredo, dropping the match 6-3 in their second doubles set of the day.
Concordia will take a break and dual against Mount Marty on Tuesday (Oct. 3) at the Bulldog Tennis Courts. The match is set to start at 4 p.m. CT.
