Men's Bulldogs fall to Southwestern

FREMONT, Neb. – In a neutral match that took place in Fremont, Neb., the Concordia University men’s tennis team fell at the hands of Southwestern College (Kan.), 9-0, at Fremont High School on Friday evening. Third-year head coach Joel Reckewey’s squad continues to seek its first victory of 2017.

There were near misses for the Bulldogs at No. 2 singles and No. 2 doubles. At No. 2 singles, Thomas Greeff won the first set, 6-0, but ended losing in a third-set tiebreaker. He also fell by a 9-7 score at No. 2 doubles in a match he teamed up on with Lucas Zoller.

In addition to Greeff at No. 2, Concordia’s singles lineup included Patricio Esquivel (No. 1), Zoller (No. 3), Tommy NcNish (No. 4), Josh Miller (No. 5) and Alex Kaldahl (No. 6). Esquivel paired with Kaldahl at No. 1 doubles and McNish and Miller partnered at No. 3 doubles.

The Bulldogs will wait until next week to return to action. They will take on Ottawa University next Friday (Feb. 24) at 4 p.m. CT inside the Abbott Sports Complex in Lincoln, Neb.
