Concordia gains victory over Nebraska Wesleyan

SEWARD, Neb. – The Concordia men’s tennis team defeated Nebraska Wesleyan University 7-2 on Wednesday afternoon. The Bulldogs are now 7-8 on the season overall and 1-2 in the GPAC. All Bulldogs won at least one set in the match.

Head coach Joel Reckewey said, “The guys came to play today and I was really proud of the way they competed. They played really sharp tennis at the right time. We’ve had a couple close conference losses so to get our first conference win is going to give us a lot of confidence going forward in conference play.”

All three of Concordia’s doubles teams were victorious. At the No. 1 position were Willy Pardos and Javier Moreno who won 8-1. Thomas Greef and Patricio Esquivel were paired up at No. 2 and topped their opponents 8-6. In a close 9-8, 7-4 match, Gabriel Poling and Philip Yox won at the No. 3 position.

Pardos is now undefeated in the conference after defeating his opponent 6-1, 6-0. Also finding victories in the singles matches were Greef (6-3, 6-0), Moreno (6-1, 6-0) and Poling (4-6, 6-2, 14-12).

The Bulldogs will back in action this Friday as they take on Midland University in Fremont. First serve is slated for 4 p.m.
