Concordia tackles Midland, collecting easy victories in men's and women's tennis
The Concordia University, Nebraska, tennis teams claimed easy victories over Midland University in the Bulldogs' final home matches of the season on Friday, April 27. The men's team downed the Warriors, 8-1. While the Bulldogs' women's team swept Midland, 9-0.

Concordia 8, Midland 1
With Friday's win, the men's team ended their regular season at 8-10 overall and 3-3 in Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) action. Midland, meanwhile, fell to 0-8 on the season and 0-5 in GPAC play.
Four Bulldogs collected straight set victories and Concordia benefitted from forfeit wins at the No. 6 singles and No. 3 doubles slots. The straight set wins came from senior Danny Frastaci (Parma, Ohio), sophomore Nathan Wingfield (Greendale, Wis.), freshman Jonathan Heckman (Canton, S.D.) and junior Cole Egger (Galva, Iowa).
Egger delivered the most dominant win, downing David Burbach 6-0, 6-1.
The Bulldogs return to action on Thursday, May 4 in the opening round of the GPAC Tournament. Concordia finished the regular season as the four seed and will face No. 5 Nebraska Wesleyan (2-4 GPAC) at 9:00 a.m. in Fremont, Neb. Hosted by Midland University, the GPAC Tournament will be played on the Fremont High School Courts.
Women's Highlights
Concordia 9, Midland 0
Following the win, Concordia's women's squad moved to 7-8 on the season and 3-3 in GPAC play. Midland, meanwhile, fell to 0-7-1 overall and 0-6 in conference action.
The Bulldogs disposed of the Warriors in straight sets in each of the six singles matches. Concordia limited Midland to a combined nine games on the day.
Junior Mikaela Barz (San Antonio, Texas) led the way for Concordia with a perfect 6-0, 6-0 win over Midland's Tokeca Kephart at the fifth singles slot.
Marz and doubles partner, freshman Grace Hollenbeck (Wheat Ridge, Colo.), also collected an 8-1 win at the second doubles position.
The women's team will wrap up its regular season on Saturday, April 28 as the Bulldogs face Northwestern at 9:00 a.m.
