OMAHA, Neb. – Concordia University, Nebraska Men’s Tennis will be in the GPAC tournament championship after throttling No. 3 seed Doane, 4-0, in the conference semifinal on Friday (April 24) in the Koch Tennis Center. The No. 2 seed Bulldogs make the title match for the second consecutive year and for the third time in the program’s history. Nick Velders tied the single-season doubles (16) and singles (19) win record.

Head Coach Lisa Hart and company continue to make the new team record tougher to overcome in the future with a 17-4 showing.

“Looking forward to the GPAC championship tomorrow,” Coach Hart said. “Our players have worked so incredibly hard on and off the court to put themselves in this position. Today was a special day – competed very well and represented Concordia and their teammates with class. I am proud to coach this group.”

Leo Lopez dashed all hopes of a Tiger comeback sealing the fourth and final point. The freshman continues to dazzle with his win over Elliot Dassel (6-1, 6-1) in dominating fashion. Hailing from Santa Cruz, Bolivia, the lanky No. 4 has now raised his record with a four-match win streak to 16-2.

No. 2 Velders crashed on Doane’s Diego Infante early taking yet another consecutive set victory (6-2,6-0). The Apeldoorn, The Netherlands, native matched his own single-season win record (19-2) from a year ago, but this time unblemished (19-0). He has won 22 matches in a row going back to last season.

Ben Chisholm at No. 5, defeated Andre Hartman (6-2, 6-1) for his third in a row. The Aussie hit the 25-career win mark and a 12-6 record for the current slate.

A Prairie State transfer, Velders also tied the doubles record set by Santiago Abadia (16) in 2025. No. 2s Velders and Hugo Fuentes grabbed the first set, 6-2. No. 1s Daniel Caballeros and Lopez (6-2) along with No. 3s Chisholm and Ognjen Gajic (6-3) delivered the simultaneous knockouts for duo play. The pairing of Caballeros and Lopez is on a six-set winning streak in doubles.

Concordia (17-4) will take on No. 13-ranked Morningside (20-4) on Saturday (April 25). The Bulldogs are set to compete in the Genesis Health Club (Westroads) at 4:30 p.m. CT. The Mustangs won the first meeting (5-2) over CUNE.
