SEWARD, Neb. – For his role in last week’s win at Morningside, Concordia University Tennis standout Eduardo Luzzi has been recognized as the GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Player of the Week, as announced on Wednesday (March 30). Luzzi is the program’s first weekly award winner of the 2022 season and first since Joe Bindl garnered the same honor in April of 2021.
Luzzi’s contributions were crucial to Head Coach Cam Long’s squad coming out on top, 4-3, in the GPAC opener at Morningside on March 26. At the No. 1 singles position, Luzzi earned a 6-2, 6-2, decision over Jaime Maza Martin. A native of Belo Horizonte, Brazil, Luzzi also paired up with teammate Juan Rabellino for a 6-2 victory at No. 1 doubles. On the season, Luzzi and Rabellino have produced a 5-2 record as a doubles tandem. Dating back to last season, the Bulldog Men’s Tennis program has won six of its past seven GPAC regular season matches.
Up next, Luzzi and company will be at Mount Marty for a 1 p.m. CT match on Thursday. Concordia will also host Central College (Iowa) on Friday and Northwestern on Saturday.
