SEWARD, Neb. – A pair of singles victories within conference play propelled senior Conner Works to GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Men’s Tennis Player of the Week honors, as announced by the conference on Wednesday (April 3). The Bulldog men’s tennis program has collected this award for the third week in a row with past winners being junior Luke Zoller on March 27 and sophomore Jeremy Berryman on March 20.

Works is establishing himself as one of the top players in the conference at No. 5 singles. Last week he defeated Hastings’ Joshua Sodorff, 8-5, and then topped Morningside’s Jory Opp, 6-3, 6-1, in singles action. He also earned an 8-3 win at No. 3 doubles along teammate Joseph Bindl in the 8-1 team victory over Morningside. Works currently sports a singles record of 8-5 on the season, making him the team leader for singles wins.

Works and company were handed an 8-1 loss by Doane on Tuesday. Up next for Concordia (7-6, 2-2 GPAC) is Saturday’s nonconference match at NCAA Division II Augustana University of Sioux Falls, S.D.
