Coley named GPAC field athlete of the week
SEWARD, Neb. – Three-time All-American Stephanie Coley’s impressive out at last week’s Fred Beile Classic has led the conference to bestow her with the GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Indoor Field Athlete of the Week award. Coley joins sophomore Zach Lurz as the second Bulldog track and field performer to earn weekly honors from the GPAC.
Coley finished in the top two of both the shot put and the weight throw at the Fred Beile Classic hosted by Doane on Feb. 7. The junior from Gering, Neb., won the shot put with her season best toss of 46’ 6”, putting her a half-inch in front of teammate Kali Robb. In the weight throw, Coley placed runner up to Robb with another automatic national qualifying mark and personal best of 57’ 11.”
On the current NAIA national list, Coley ranks fourth in the shot put (46’ 6”) and sixth in the weight throw (57’ 11”). On Concordia’s all-time indoor charts, Coley sits at No. 2 in the shot put (46’ 11”) and No. 4 in the weight throw (57’ 11”).
Coley and the Bulldogs (ranked fourth nationally on the men’s side and No. 8 on the women’s side) return to action on Thursday when the program hosts the annual Concordia Indoor Invitational inside the Walz Fieldhouse. The event schedule can be viewed HERE.
