Last week’s Concordia Classic marked the third of four 2024-25 indoor home meets for Head Coach Matt Beisel’s squads. The major highlights included three fresh automatic national qualifying standards and seven event championships. The new ‘A’ marks were produced by the women’s 4x400-meter relay, Abigail Gerber (shot put) and Jonny Jurchen (3,000-meter race walk). The 4x4 that featured Adrianna Rodencal, Trinity Tuls, Isabelle Salters and Kayla Kirchner set a new Fieldhouse record with a time of 3:53.71 (converted to 3:50.65 on the national list). Additionally, Mayson Ostermeyer improved his NAIA leading mark in the pole vault to 16’ 4 ¾.”
Bulldogs with NAIA ‘A’ / ‘B’ standards:
· A – Women’s 4x400m Relay (3:50.65)
· A – Abigail Gerber: Shot Put (46’ 4 ¾”)
· A – Jonny Jurchen: 3,000m Race Walk (14:12.41)

NOTE: Josi Noble (3,205) and Addie Reimer (2,990) rank 13th and 19th, respectively in the NAIA in the women’s pentathlon.
A raising of the automatic national qualifying standards has made such marks more difficult to achieve this indoor season. That point is exemplified by Concordia’s Carson Fehlhafer currently ranking No. 5 nationally in the weight throw with a ‘B’ mark (59’ 10 ½”). Other Bulldogs currently situated inside the top five of the NAIA are Ostermeyer (No. 1 in the pole vault), the women’s 4x4 (No. 2), Rodencal (No. 3 in the 60 hurdles) and Abi Wohlgemuth (No. 3 in the weight throw).
This week’s meet at Doane honors former legendary Tiger coach Fred Beile. Concordia has been a regular attendee of the meet. The 2024 Beile Classic included athletes from 13 different institutions.
In the ratings: On Tuesday (Jan. 28), the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) released its first NAIA men’s and women’s ratings of the 2025 season. The Bulldogs appeared at No. 10 on the women’s side and at No. 14 on the men’s side in the national ratings, which are generated based on the list of individual performance marks achieved during the 2024-25 indoor season.
