
SEWARD, Neb. – The 2025 outdoor season will get started for Concordia University, Nebraska Track & Field on Friday at the Central Nebraska Challenge co-hosted by the University of Nebraska-Kearney and Hastings. The meet was moved up one day in order to take advantage of more favorable weather conditions on Friday. It should be noted that a handful of Bulldog athletes competed at last week’s Grand View Viking Relays in Des Moines, Iowa. Additionally, Matthew Boyer will be headed to Austin, Texas, for this weekend’s Texas Relays.

The clock is already ticking as the calendar speeds towards the 2025 GPAC Indoor Track & Field Championships scheduled for May 2-3 at Hastings. The Central Nebraska Challenge will provide a starting point before Concordia hosts its own invitational the weekend of April 4-5. Head Coach Matt Beisel’s squads are coming off indoor seasons that saw them post GPAC place finishes of third on the women’s side and fourth on the men’s side. Adrianna Rodencal earned GPAC Women’s Athlete of the Year accolades and was one of five Concordia athletes to garner All-America awards at indoor nationals. The other All-Americans were Abby Gerber, Jonny Jurchen, Mayson Ostermeyer and Abi Wohlgemuth (runner up).
At the Grand View Viking Relays, Jurchen clocked a ‘B’ standard in the 5,000-meter race walk, finishing in 25:24.08. Two teammates also competed in the race walk: Luke Hammang (28:16.70) and Aaron Spivey (33:05.20). In addition, two Bulldogs ran the 10,000 meters: Thomas Gorline (33:11.18) and Aidan Limback (33:51.43).
