Entering the meet, head coach Matt Beisel’s squads own national rankings of 14th on the women’s side and 21st on the men’s side, according to the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association NAIA ratings index. The University of the Cumberlands (Ky.) boasts the top-ranked squads for both men and women.

The Concordia women’s program earned a third-place national team trophy at the 2024 NAIA indoor meet. The Bulldogs return two women’s throws All-Americans from a year ago: Abby Gerber (fifth in the shot put) and Abi Wohlgemuth (sixth in the weight throw). Gerber won the 2025 indoor shot put title. Meanwhile, Kayla Kirchner and Trinity Tuls contributed to a 4x400-meter relay that placed sixth at last year’s indoor national meet. Recently named the women’s GPAC Indoor Athlete of the Year, Rodencal will be part of the 4x4 while also aiming for All-America honors in the 60-meter hurdles. Her 60-hurdle time of 8.49 broke the GPAC indoor meet record. There will be 12 women’s athletes heading to Gainesville.

The men’s squad will also send 12 competitors to the southeast. The group features returning pole vault All-American Mayson Ostermeyer, who placed fifth nationally a year ago. In the throws, junior Carson Fehlhafer is fresh off a GPAC title in the shot put and will compete in both throwing events this weekend. In the race walk, Jurchen emerged as a GPAC champion and now has his sights set on bringing home an All-America award. The men’s program placed in the top 10 nationally for both indoor and outdoor in 2024 while getting major points from the likes of national champions Chris Wren and Zach Zohner.

According to the USTFCCCA, the Bulldogs boast many event groupings that rank highly within the NAIA. Based on the coaches association’s event squad rankings, Concordia ranks top five nationally in the following events: women’s weight throw (first), men’s race walk (first), men’s weight throw (second), women’s pentathlon (second), women’s triple jump (second), women’s shot put (third), women’s 400 meters (fourth), women’s 60 hurdles (fourth), women’s high jump (fourth), men’s pole vault (fifth) and men’s shot put (fifth).

Both Bulldog programs have won an NAIA outdoor national championship in their history – 2015 for the men and 2016 for the women. During Beisel’s tenure, the Concordia track programs have earned a total of seven NAIA top-four team trophies with six coming on the women’s side and one on the men’s side. The men placed as the NAIA indoor national runner up in 2017 while the women have placed third four separate times (and fourth twice) since 2017.

The list of Bulldogs making their first-ever national championship appearance includes Harper Boche, Easton Fries, Vaughn Hendrickson, Jonny Jurchen, Brittni Kinne, Jaxon Lipker, Adysen McCarter, Addie Reimer, Justin Sherman and Amanda Steinke. Hendrickson did appear at the 2024 NAIA Cross Country National Championships and earned All-America status.
