ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The Bulldogs’ second and third All-America awards of the week were seized on day two (May 21) of the 2026 NAIA Outdoor Track & Field National Championships in Asheville, N.C. The latest medals were claimed by Jonny ‘The Jet’ Jurchen in the race walk and by Adysen McCarter in the triple jump while Hank Moore polished off a strong run in the decathlon and Adrianna Rodencal qualified for the finals of another hurdles event. The women’s 4x4 also locked up a spot in the finals. Nine athletes represented Concordia University, Nebraska Track & Field in Thursday’s action at Straus Track, where another lightning delay briefly put the meet on hold.
Through two days of action at the national meet, Head Coach Matt Beisel’s squads have tallied seven points on the men’s side and four points on the women’s side. Emry Gutz emerged with All-America honors in the javelin on Wednesday.
The school record holder in the indoor and outdoor triple jump, McCarter (Overton, Neb.) had been tracking towards a podium finish throughout her first two collegiate seasons. That pursuit became a reality on Thursday evening when she landed at distances greater than 39 feet on two of her six jumps. McCarter solidified her spot in fifth place when she launched herself 39’ 5 ¼” on her final attempt (just off her school record of 39’ 6 ½”).
Just a sophomore, Jurchen already boasts three career All-America awards in the race walk. On Thursday, The Jet clocked another sub-22-minute time in the 5,000-meter walk, gliding to the finish line in 21:51.86. Jurchen’s sixth-place claim resulted in his first career outdoor All-America award. In 2026, Jurchen reset his own GPAC indoor and outdoor race walk meet records while adding to his collection of hardware. In the same race on Thursday, Luke Hammang officially went down in the results as a “DNF” due to miscommunication. Hammang is a five-time national qualifier.
Things are about to get real interesting for Rodencal, who has qualified for the finals of both hurdles events. The Lincoln Lutheran alum was not seriously challenged in the prelims of the 400 hurdles on Wednesday or the 100 hurdles on Thursday. In the 100-hurdle prelims, Rodencal easily won heat two while clocking in at 13.50 for the top overall semifinal time. Just as Rodencal finished the prelims, another weather delay halted the meet (similar to Wednesday). The finals of the hurdles are set for Friday afternoon.
At just after 10:30 p.m. local time in Asheville, Rodencal was joined for NAIA track after dark by her 4x400-meter relay teammates. Collectively, they challenged their own school record (3:47.14 at the GPAC Championships) and placed second in preliminary heat one, sewing up a spot in Friday’s finals. The order for Concordia went McCarter, Rodencal, Tayden Kirchner and Kayla Kirchner. The result was a time of 3:47.33 (eighth fastest in the prelims). McCarter led it off with a blazing split of 55.81. Due to protests, the results of the 4x4 were not officially finalized until after midnight in North Carolina.
A first-time qualifier, Moore (Stephenville, Texas) grinded through five events on Wednesday and then five more on Thursday as part of the decathlon competition. Moore turned in the field’s second-best shot put (42’ 3 ¼”) on day one and then landed the second-best discus throw (131’ 8”) on day two. When the dust settled, Moore placed 12th overall with 6,272 points.
Less than 24 hours after helping the men’s 4x800-meter relay to a season best performance, sophomore Lucas Corwin returned to the track for the open 800 meters. In leading the event off in heat No. 1, Corwin clocked in at 1:52.32. The York, Neb., native placed 18th overall (sixth in his heat). As part of a strong outdoor season, Corwin rose to No. 7 on the program’s all-time list in the 800 meters. Corwin and his 4x8 teammates also climbed to sixth (7:36.92) on the school record board.
One day after placing 18th in the hammer throw, sophomore Harper Boche (Torrington, Wyo.) got back in the ring. The four-time national qualifier finished in 19th place in the shot put with her mark of 40’ 8 ¾” coming on her second attempt. Boche’s outdoor season included all-conference medals in the shot and hammer.
