Bulldogs continue to dig up academic awards

SEWARD, Neb. – The Bulldog volleyball team has been recognized by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) for academic excellence. In order to receive this honor, teams must maintain at least a 3.30 cumulative team GPA. The AVCA Team Academic Award was awarded to 49 squads in the NAIA, six of which are in the GPAC.

In Dec., there were a nation-topping 10 Scholar-Athletes on the Bulldog squad. Those student-athletes included: Amanda Abbott, Kayla James, Michala Maurer, Audrey Mehl, Mariah Schamp, Katie Peterson, Kayla Sombke, Claire White, Libby Zagel and Jami Nekoliczak. These student-athletes kept a GPA of 3.5 or higher to be chosen for this honor.

The 2014 volleyball unit also was honored as a NAIA Scholar Team, one of 17 CUNE teams recognized. The squad marked a cumulative team GPA of 3.56 for the 2014-15 school year.
