SEWARD, Neb. – The weekly awards keep on coming for Concordia University Volleyball’s standout setter Bree Burtwistle. On Tuesday (Oct. 3), Burtwistle pulled in her fourth GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Setter of the Week award of 2023. The native of Stanton, Neb., was also recognized as NAIA National Setter of the Week on Sept. 5.
Burtwistle facilitates an attack that leads the nation in both hitting percentage (.300) and kills per set (14.74). As part of last week’s action, Burtwistle totaled 85 assists (14.17) as the top-ranked Bulldogs defeated both Briar Cliff and Morningside in straight sets on the road. For the week, Burtwistle also totaled 23 digs, five kills, three blocks and two aces. She has tallied 2,647 assists, 735 digs and 99 aces in 99 career matches played.
On the season, Burtwistle is averaging 11.60 assists per set, a figure which ranks first in the GPAC and second nationally. Burtwistle is in her second season as the program’s full-time setter. She was named Second Team All-GPAC in 2022.
Concordia (15-0, 8-0 GPAC) is looking forward to a weekend that will put it up against No. 14 Jamestown on Friday and Dakota Wesleyan on Saturday.
