Nebraska Wesleyan outlasts Concordia, 3-2

Nebraska Wesleyan rallied to defeat Concordia in GPAC volleyball on Wednesday evening in Lincoln.  Concordia held a 2-1 match lead before dropping the final two sets of the contest.  Scores of the match were 30-28, 21-25, 21-25, 25-17 and 15-9.  The Prairie Wolves improved to 13-9 overall and evened their conference record at 5-5.  Concordia slipped to 9-16 overall with a 2-8 conference mark.  

Wesleyan was led by Cicely Batie’s 14 kills.  Batie added six assisted blocks on the night.  Hannah Softley and Katelyn Walsh added 13 kills apiece for the Prairie Wolves.  Caitlin Anderson had a match-best 53 set assists, while three players reached double figures in digs.  Mackenzie Hite totaled a team-high 15 digs.  Caitlin Anderson finished with 13 digs, while Mackenzie Ashton chipped in with 10 digs.  

Amanda Kisker (Lincoln, Neb.) pounded a match-high 18 kills to lead the way for Concordia in a losing effort.  Amanda Abbott (Temecula, Calif.) also reached double figures with 10 kills.  Defensively, Concordia was led by Carli Smith’s (Temecula, Calif.) match-high 27 digs.  Alexa Hopping (Sutherland, Neb.) passed out a team-best 26 set assists and added 13 digs on the night.  Kayla James (Gibbon, Neb.) finished with 18 set assists and 10 digs.  

Concordia continues conference play this Saturday on the road at Briar Cliff.
