2023 Concordia Volleyball Schedule
SEWARD, Neb. – Another highly anticipated Concordia University Volleyball season is coming up this fall. As announced on Friday (April 28), the schedule for 2023 has been made public. As it stands, the regular season slate features 24 matches, including the usual 16 versus GPAC opponents. The Bulldogs are set to open the ’23 campaign at home on Aug. 19 when McPherson College (Kan.) will be in town for a Saturday afternoon clash.
Coaches Ben and Angie Boldt have guided the program to four-straight NAIA national tournament appearances. The 2022 squad went 25-6 overall and rose as high as No. 4 in the NAIA coaches’ poll, a ranking that rates as the highest in school history. All six of the team’s All-GPAC honorees will return in 2023: first teamers Gabi Nordaker and Camryn Opfer, second teamers Bree Burtwistle and Carly Rodaway and honorable mention choices Rebecca Gebhardt and Ashley Keck (GPAC Freshman of the Year). Opfer and Burtwistle will be entering their fifth seasons of college volleyball.
Breaking the 2023 schedule down further, 12 of the regular season matches will be played at home. The annual Bulldog Bash is set for Aug. 25-26. That event will pit Concordia against nonconference opponents in MidAmerica Nazarene University (Kan.), Langston University (Okla.) and Lewis-Clark State College (Idaho). Another major nonconference event will be the CSM/United Sports Academy Siouxland Tournament the weekend of Sept. 1-2.
Conference play will get started on Aug. 29 with a visit to Hastings. The Bulldogs’ GPAC home opener will come against fierce rival Midland on Sept. 6. Concordia will welcome defending NAIA national champion Jamestown to Friedrich Arena on Oct. 6. As usual, the Bulldogs will have two GPAC regular season matchups (home and away) with in-state foes College of Saint Mary, Doane, Hastings and Midland.
Dates for the GPAC tournament are Nov. 4 for the quarterfinals, Nov. 8 for the semifinals and Nov. 11 for the championship match. The NAIA National Championship Opening Round will be held on Nov. 18 with play at the national tournament final site in Sioux City, Iowa, set to run Nov. 29 though Dec. 5. The Bulldogs have appeared at the final site in four years running.
The majority of matches can be heard live throughout the fall on 104.9 Max Country KTMX. Home games are streamed live via the Concordia Sports Network.
