SEWARD, Neb. – The Concordia University volleyball program has replaced the event that had been previously scheduled as the season opener. The Bulldogs have added a home match with Baker University (Kan.) to be played on Saturday, Sept. 5. First serve is set for 2 p.m. CT from Walz Arena. It will be the first appearance of 2020 for head coach Ben Boldt’s squad.
Originally, Concordia was slated to be at the Labor Day Classic hosted by Bellevue University on Sept. 5. With that event off the books, the Bulldogs agreed on the announced matchup with Baker, a member of the Heart of America Athletic Conference. As the schedule stands, the Bulldogs are slated to play at home nine times, including eight GPAC home matches. The fall slate currently features 19 total matches. There will also be an option to play additional contests in the spring.
The NAIA announced on July 29 that all fall sport national championships will be moved to the spring. Dates for those national championships have not yet be determined. Concordia will seek to earn a berth at nationals for a second year in a row after reaching the national round of 16 in 2019.
