Head volleyball coach Ben Boldt joined Tyler Cavalli of 104.9 Max Country, the radio home of the Bulldogs, to discuss his new role. Boldt shared visions for the program and how his past experiences have shaped him as a coach.
A native of Hickman, Neb., Ben Boldt is returning home to become head volleyball coach at Concordia. His wife Angie has also been named an assistant coach on the staff. Ben and Angie previously coached at Hendrix College.
The Concordia University volleyball program landed nine of its members on the 2017 list of NAIA Scholar-Athletes, ranking third best nationally. Repeat winners are Annie Friesen, Courtney Jurgens and Alaina Ruszkowski.
Emmie Noyd headlined the all-conference selections for the Concordia University volleyball team. One of the league's most efficient attackers, Noyd earned second team All-GPAC accolades.
The 2017 volleyball season concluded in the GPAC quarterfinals on Saturday (Nov. 4). It was the last hurrah for Annie Friesen and the rest of the seniors in a straight-sets defeat at third-ranked Hastings.
It's tournament time for Concordia volleyball. The eighth-seeded Bulldogs will be at No. 1 seed Hastings on Saturday for the GPAC quarterfinal round. Concordia made it past the quarterfinals in both 2014 and 2015.
In its regular-season finale, Concordia gave No. 11 Midland some fits, but ultimately was dealt a four-set defeat. The Bulldogs will now be on the road for Saturday's GPAC quarterfinal match at Hastings.
A conference tournament bid will be on the line on Wednesday when Concordia hosts No. 9 Midland in the regular-season finale for both teams. The Bulldogs have won four in a row at home.
Still looking for that elusive road win, the Concordia volleyball team fell at Briar Cliff on Saturday (Oct. 28) afternoon in straight sets. Freshman defensive specialist Marissa Hoerman totaled a match high 20 digs.
Concordia will shoot for its fifth win in a row while also aiming to secure a GPAC tournament berth when it takes to the road on Saturday. First serve between the Bulldogs and Briar Cliff is set for 3 p.m. on Saturday.
