Freshman Gabi Nordaker made herself comfortable in her Concordia debut and the Bulldogs motored to a straight-sets victory at Midland on Wednesday (Sept. 9) in the season opener.
The wait will finally be over on Wednesday night when Concordia and Midland meet in Fremont. The Nebraska GPAC rivals split their two meetings in 2019.
Third-year head coach Scott Mattera’s Bulldogs completed a solid weekend at the Hastings College Classic by splitting a pair of matches on Saturday. A day after upsetting No. 14 Oklahoma Baptist University, Concordia finished at 3-1 on the weekend by taking care of Friends University (Kan.) (25-27, 25-21, 25-21, 25-19) prior to a loss to the University of Montana Western, 25-19, 29-27, 25-23.
Vying for the program’s first victory over a ranked opponent since 2007, the Concordia University volleyball team upset No. 14 Oklahoma Baptist University, 25-22, 26-28, 25-19, 25-17 in its second match of the Hastings College Classic on Friday.
The match between Concordia and Baker scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 5 has been canceled. No makeup date has been set. The season opener will now be at Midland on Sept. 9.
The preseason expectations have risen significantly for the Concordia University Volleyball, which enters this season ranked third in the GPAC. The Bulldogs finished last season ranked 14th in the NAIA.

A young Concordia volleyball team will enter 2013 expected to finish in ninth place once again, according to league coaches. With 31 total points, head coach Scott Mattera’s squad landed ninth in the 2013 GPAC Volleyball Preseason Coaches’ Poll.
The Concordia Volleyball program has made a switch to its season opener and will now host Baker University on Saturday, Sept. 5. The slate includes a total of nine home matches.
