A freshman from Minden, Neb., Myla Emery earned GPAC Setter of the Week honors after helping the third-ranked Bulldogs to conference wins over Mount Marty and College of Saint Mary.
In the second go-round this season with in-state rival CSM, No. 3 Concordia leaned upon its blocking and finished emphatically. Freshman Samantha Kimbell produced 13 kills in the four-set win.
A workmanlike effort got the job done in three sets on Wednesday (Oct. 14) as third-ranked Concordia hosted its annual pink match. Makenna Starkey starred in the middle and Kyla Griess served bullets.
The weekend included a milestone victory and this season's first GPAC loss. The third-ranked Bulldogs will look to respond in rematches with Mount Marty and College of Saint Mary.
In a match with GPAC regular season title implications, No. 2 Northwestern won the serve and pass battle and defeated No. 3 Concordia in straight sets. The Bulldogs missed opportunities in tight first and third sets.
Before there could be a postgame celebration, the Bulldogs had to match the high level of play from host Waldorf. No. 2 Concordia absorbed the push and triumphed for Ben Boldt's 200th career win.
The weekend road trip across the state line will feature a showdown with arch nemesis Northwestern. Both the Bulldogs and Red Raiders will enter the weekend with 8-0 GPAC records.
The seniors have helped establish a culture that has yielded impressive results. The winning continued on Saturday (Oct. 3) as the second-ranked Bulldogs celebrated senior day with a triumph over No. 14 Morningside.
A strong service game and the spark provided by Danica Martin carried No. 2 Concordia to a straight sets win over Briar Cliff on Friday (Oct. 2). The Bulldogs hit .279 and landed eight aces on the night.
