Barry, Lammers recognized on Academic All-District Teams

SEWARD, Neb. – Both highly accomplished seniors, Grace Barry and Philly Lammers have been honored by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) as members of the 2020 Academic All-District® Women’s Basketball Teams. Barry and Lammers were two of the five selections on the NAIA All-District 3 Team. The Concordia University, Nebraska women’s basketball program was the only one to be represented with two honorees in district 3.

The 2019-20 Academic All-District® Men's and Women’s Basketball Teams, selected by CoSIDA, recognizes the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom, were announced on February 20. The CoSIDA Academic All-America® program separately recognizes basketball honorees in four divisions — NAIA, NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II and NCAA Division III.

A second-year Bulldog and Lincoln East High School alum, Barry sports a near perfect grade-point average while studying secondary education. Barry’s impact upon the fortunes of the program have been profound. Most notably, she earned national tournament MVP honors last season in leading Concordia to its first-ever national championship. This season, Barry is averaging 13.6 points, 6.1 assists and 3.3 steals per game. She ranks in the top five nationally in both assists and steals per game. She recently eclipsed 1,000 career points at the college level.

An Omaha native and Millard West High School graduate, Lammers has collected the Academic All-District honor for a third year in a row. Lammers is the NAIA’s 2019 Liston Award winner for her excellence as a student and athlete. She is also a three-time NAIA All-American, was tabbed the 2018-19 GPAC Player of the Year and has landed first team all-conference recognition each of her first three years. Lammers ranks inside the top five of the program’s all-time lists for points (1,953), rebounds (1,000) and steals (343). Lammers majors in biology and physics.

First-team Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team (if applicable) Academic All-America® honorees will be announced between March 9-12.
