Bulldog women ready for GPAC Quarterfinal contest

SEWARD, Neb. – The 13th-ranked Concordia women’s basketball team is set to face No. 10 Briar Cliff for the second time in less than a week. The GPAC quarterfinal game will take place in Sioux City, Iowa on Wednesday. Tipoff is slated for 6 p.m.

Last time out
The Concordia women’s basketball team split last week in GPAC action. The Bulldogs first hosted College of Saint Mary last Wednesday and got a 74-62 win over the Flames. Then on Saturday, the ‘Dogs traveled to 10th-ranked Briar Cliff. Concordia suffered a 75-55 loss.

The matchup
The Bulldogs and Chargers have met twice this season and split the pair of games. Each team won on its home court, Concordia early in January and Briar Cliff just last weekend. The Bulldogs are currently shooting .429 from the field and .336 from 3-point range. Concordia averages 75.6 points and 39.7 rebounds per game. On the other side, Briar Cliff holds a .437 shooting percentage from the field and a .333 percentage from behind the arc. The Chargers average 73.4 points and 34.2 rebounds per contest.

Freshman Quinn Wragge is leading Concordia in several categories, including scoring (14.3 ppg), total scoring (429), field goals made (180), rebounds (6.5 rpg), total rebounds (196), steals (57) and free throws made (65). Senior Becky Mueller averages 10.4 points per game and owns a 37.5 percent 3-point field goal mark.

Briar Cliff’s Jessi Corrick leads the Chargers in scoring, averaging 14.3 points per game. Morgan Hansen’s 4.7 boards per game leads the team. Hansen also averages 14.1 points per contest. Right behind Hansen in rebounding is Kaylee Blake who averages 4.6 rebounds a game and scores 12.0 points per tilt.

The Concordia women’s basketball team will need to win Wednesday’s contest to continue in the GPAC tournament. The winner of the matchup will move on to play the winner of the first and eighth seed. A full schedule of the remainder of the tournament is listed below.
