Concordia travels to Northwestern this evening in GPAC Quarterfinals

The quarterfinals of the GPAC women’s basketball tournament will be held on Thursday.  Concordia travels to Orange City, Iowa for a 6 p.m. contest against Northwestern College.

Concordia defeated Hastings College by the score of 61-58 in the opening round of the GPAC Tournament on Tuesday evening in Seward.  Kat Ommen (Jefferson City, Mo.), Katie Rich (Tilden, Neb.) and Kristen Conahan (Omaha, Neb.) all scored in double figures for the Bulldogs in the victory.  Concordia takes a 15-16 overall record into Thursday evening’s matchup against the Red Raiders.

Northwestern College, the No. 1 seed in the tournament and No.2 ranked team nationally, enters Thursday’s contest with a 27-1 overall record.  The Raiders cruised through the conference season with a perfect 18-0 mark.

Earlier this season, Northwestern held on for an 82-72 win over Concordia.  Concordia held the lead for a good portion of the game, and the Red Raiders needed a late run to pull away from the Bulldogs for the win.

The winner of Thursday’s contest will advance to Saturday’s semifinal round to play either Briar Cliff or Mount Marty.
