The 2017 GPAC women's basketball tournament title game had it all. It the end, it was jubilation for the Bulldogs and the home fans inside Walz Arena. Concordia celebrated a 78-77 overtime win.
Second-ranked Concordia will collide with No. 9 Dakota Wesleyan in Tuesday's GPAC tournament championship game. Tipoff from Walz Arena is set for 7 p.m. CT. The Bulldogs are 16-0 at home this season.
Second-ranked Concordia caused more havoc on Saturday, forcing 34 turnovers in an 88-51 GPAC semifinal win over Northwestern on Saturday. Freshman Philly Lammers totaled 18 points, five rebounds and five blocks.
The GPAC tournament continues on Saturday when second-ranked Concordia hosts Northwestern in a semifinal tilt inside Walz Arena. The Bulldogs will attempt to knock off the Red Raiders for the third time this season.
Dani Andersen and Philly Lammers matched each other with 19 points apiece in leading second-ranked Concordia to an 88-69 GPAC quarterfinal win over Midland. The Bulldogs improved to 29-2 overall.
Concordia begins what it hopes will be an extended postseason when the GPAC tournament tips off on Wednesday night. The top-seeded Bulldogs host Midland in the quarterfinals.
While celebrating six seniors, the second-ranked Bulldogs completed the regular season by pummeling visiting Dordt, 90-55, on Saturday afternoon. Concordia is now 14-0 at home this season.
Second-ranked Concordia trailed in the second half of a game for just the fifth time this season, but roared back with a big fourth quarter. The Bulldogs got 14 points off the bench from Erin Vieselmeyer and won at No. 10 Hastings, 60-46.
Fresh off wrapping up the GPAC regular-season title, the second-ranked Bulldogs are aiming for a strong finish to the regular season. Concordia will honor six seniors when it hosts Dordt on Saturday.
A day after securing the outright GPAC title, second-ranked Concordia returned to action and finally saw its win streak come to an end. The Bulldogs fell at No. 12 Dakota Wesleyan, 75-53. Concordia is now 26-2 overall.
After losing several key pieces from the 2014-15 team that made a run to the national title game, the Bulldogs have reloaded with a balanced approach in 2015-16.
