After leading the Bulldogs to the NAIA national quarterfinals, Taylor Cockerill has been named an NAIA All-American by the WBCA. She topped Concordia in scoring, rebounding and assists this season.
The 2020-21 journey ended on Saturday (March 20) with an 83-67 defeat at the hands of familiar foe Morningside. Taylor Cockerill nearly posted a triple-double and Rylee Pauli notched a double-double.
The Concordia Women's Basketball program has a way of rising to the occasion in March. Behind the likes of Taysha Rushton and Rylee Pauli, Concordia topped Marian and moved to the NAIA quarterfinals.
Concordia senior Faith Troshynski has been chosen by the WBCA to participate in an exclusive program called 'So You Want To Be A Coach.' Student-athletes from all levels of collegiate athletics were included.
For the first time ever, Concordia and Marian will meet on the national tournament stage. The Bulldogs come into play fresh off a win over Loyola while the Knights defeated Grand View in opening round action.
With the win over Loyola (La.), Concordia has earned a spot at the final site of the national tournament and will play Marian (Ind.) in the round of 16. Game time is set for 6 p.m. CT on March 19.
A combination of factors led to a rough start for the Bulldogs, who recovered in time to pull away from Loyola, 71-54, in the opening round of the national tournament. Concordia is headed back to Sioux City.
