After busting out of the gates with a 15-4 lead, No. 5 Concordia relinquished the advantage before halftime and struggled defensively for the early part of the second half on the way to a 77-74 loss to No. 10 Jamestown (N.D.) on Friday night. Led by hot-shooting point guard Hannah Steele, the Jimmies spoiled day one of the 14th annual Cattle Classic for Drew Olson’s Bulldogs. The loss dropped Concordia to 3-1 on the season.
It was a tough opening weekend of play at the Cattle Classic. Despite 23 more points from Taylor Cockerill, the 11th-ranked Bulldogs were clipped by No. 20 Carroll, 73-66.
The young pups opened up 2020-21 with a significant challenge. In game No. 1, Dakota State got the best of the Bulldogs, 94-82, despite 33 points from Taylor Cockerill.
