NORFOLK, Neb. – A runner-up finisher at last summer’s Nebraska Women’s Amateur Golf Association (NWAGA) Match Play Championship, senior-to-be Amy Ahlers placed third at this week’s Nebraska State Amateur Championship. The native of Albion, Neb., shot a three-round total of 82-77-78–237 in beating 30 of 33 competitors in the field at Eldorado Hills Golf Course in Norfolk, Neb., (June 13-15).

At the same event one year ago, Ahlers shot 80-70-73–223 and finished fourth. The three-time GPAC all-conference performer is coming off another stellar season for head coach Brett Muller’s squad. This past season she broke the program single-season record for lowest single-season average (80.8).

Recently Ahlers has also been named both an Academic All-District and Academic All-America selection by CoSIDA. A standout in the classroom, Ahlers sports a near spotless GPA while pursuing her degree in elementary education. She also owns six career tournament victories as a Bulldog.
