DAKOTA DUNES, S.D. – The improvement of freshman Haley Nolde and the overall solid weekend for Murphy Sears provided the highlights for the Concordia University women’s golf team at the two-day Lila Frommelt Fall Classic (Sept. 15-16) hosted by Briar Cliff. While competing in a field of 16 teams, the Bulldogs placed 15th with a two-day score of 376-389–765.

The event marked the third tournament of the season for head coach Brett Muller’s squad. Concordia also competed earlier this week at the Midland Fall Invite (Sept. 11).

A sophomore from Crete, Sears figures to pace Concordia all season at the top of the lineup. In a large field of more than 90 golfers, Sears tied for 31st place with her score of 82-88–170. Sears owns each of the team’s top five rounds so far this season.

She was followed in the lineup by Nolde (104-93–197; 75th), who shaved 11 strokes off of her Friday total in the meet held at Two Rivers Golf Club in Dakota Dunes, S.D. The remainder of the lineup included sophomore Payton DeMers-Sahling (97-102–199; T-77th), freshman Rebecca Day (93-107–200; T-79th) and junior Madison Pitsch (105-106–211; T-85th). Golfing as individuals, sophomore Paighton Barbre (108-95–203; 81st) and freshman Gabrielle Coviello (108-107–215; T-89th) were also present.

Just one more tournament remains on the fall schedule prior to the GPAC Fall Championships (Oct. 9-10). The next meet will be the College of Saint Mary Fall Shootout at Miracle Hill Golf Course in Omaha on Sept. 27.
