SIOUX CENTER, Iowa – Roughly two weeks since its last action, the Concordia University Women’s Golf team returned to action on Monday (Sept. 23) for round one of the Siouxland Invite. While topped by junior Emery Custer, the Bulldogs shot a 350 while navigating The Ridge Golf Club in Sioux Center, Iowa, along with seven opposing GPAC squads. Concordia sits in eighth place out of nine total groupings with one round left to be contested.
Head Coach Brett Muller’s squad had been idle since shooting 383-355–738 at the Battle at Bayside on Sept. 9-10.
For the second-straight round, Custer equaled a career low with the eight-over-par 80 she shot on Monday. The Broken Bow, Neb., native Custer stands seven strokes off the tournament lead of 73 by Morningside’s Lucy Brown. Custer was followed in the Bulldog lineup by junior Maddie Lewis (88), seniors Jennifer Gillotti (89) and Sarah Wilson (93) and freshman Savannah McFalls (98). Four Bulldogs also competed as individuals (complete scores below). The 93 for Wilson represented a season low.
The 350 Concordia shot puts it within range of the likes of Dordt (337), Hastings (342) and Mount Marty (344) heading into day two of the Siouxland Invite. The top four in the team standings are Doane (308), Morningside (315), Northwestern (328) and Briar Cliff (333).
