LINCOLN, Neb. – In the largest field of competitors of any event it has taken part in this season, the Concordia University Women’s Golf team resides in ninth place with 18 of 36 holes complete. The Bulldogs are in the midst of hosting the two-day Concordia Bulldog Invite (April 6-7) at Highlands Golf Course in Lincoln, Neb. Standout Kendra Placke handled the consistently strong winds nicely while shooting a six-over-par 78.

Head Coach Brett Muller’s program welcomed a field of 90 total golfers (15 teams) to Highlands. Concordia shot a team score of 354 on Tuesday, sufficient to place above five conference rivals.

Placke (tied for seventh) effectively carded her first sub-80 score of the spring season while navigating the home course. Meanwhile, teammate Mia Martin made her first career tournament appearance at Highlands and carded an 87 (tied for 29th). The highlight of Martin’s day was an eagle that she landed on hole No. 7. It came as the end result of an eight-foot putt.

The tournament roster for the Bulldogs includes eight individuals. Others who factored into the team scoring were Lauren Havlat (93; T-52nd), Andrea Peterson (96; T-59th) and Logan Eschliman (97; T-64th). Three Concordia players competed as individuals: Emily Jensen (96; T-59th), Ashley Gerczynski (98; T-68th) and Mya Nurse (105; T-79th).

The tournament team leader is Morningside with a 304. Individually, Placke is four strokes off first place Laura Gibson (74) of Iowa Western Community College. With an improved round on Wednesday, the Bulldogs could potentially move in front of the likes of York College (341), Dakota Wesleyan (342), Briar Cliff (342) and Mount Marty (352).

Day two of the invite will tee off with a shotgun start at 10 a.m. CT on Wednesday. Just like on Tuesday, live scoring will be available via Golf Genius (https://www.golfgenius.com/). The Golf Genius ID is 2021BulldogInvite.
