SEWARD, Neb. – A sterling start to her senior season resulted in recognition on Wednesday (Sept. 17) for Concordia University, Nebraska Women’s Golf’s Emery Custer. The league office has tabbed Custer the GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Women’s Golfer of the Week. The honor is based on her performance at the Lila Frommelt Fall Classic on Sept. 8-9 and marks the first time Custer has been named GPAC Golfer of the Week.

A Broken Bow, Neb., native, Custer placed as the Frommelt Classic runner up as she shot 85-73–158 (+15), three strokes out of a tournament title. In round two of the event, Custer carded three birdies and came within one stroke of a personal best for 18 holes. Custer’s efforts helped lead the Bulldogs to a new school record team score (336-322–658) for a two-round tournament. Concordia placed second at the Frommelt Classic while making a strong push for a tournament championship. Custer is studying Psychology and Business Administration.

Custer and her teammates are back in action this week at the Siouxland Invite (Sept. 16-17). In round one in Sioux Center, Iowa, Custer shot a 77 and resides in second place. She placed in the top five of the first two tournaments of this season (Mount Marty Invite and Frommelt Classic) and was a fifth-place GPAC finisher as a junior this past spring.
