SEWARD, Neb. – A pair of local talents represented the Concordia University women’s golf squad on the GPAC women’s golf all-conference team announced on Tuesday (May 7) by the conference. Freshman Kendra Placke and junior Murphy Sears made their way on to the 16-member All-GPAC team. This marks the third-straight year that Sears has collected the all-conference award.
A former state champion at Seward High School, Placke placed in a tie for fifth in the conference this season with a four-round total of 75-78-88-89–330. Over 13 total rounds during the 2018-19 season, Placke led the team with a scoring average of 81.46. Out of seven events, Placke placed in the top five of five and in the top 10 of six tournaments. Her best placement was second at the Matthew Goette Invitational back on Sept. 26. She achieved a season low of 75 in the first round of the conference championships.
A Crete, Neb., native, Sears placed 14th in the GPAC this season following conference finishes of 11th as a freshman and eighth as a sophomore. She carded a cumulative score of 83-75-92-95–345 at the 2018-19 GPAC championships. On the season, Sears averaged an 18-hole score of 86.62 over 13 rounds. Her lowest score of 75 was turned in at the second round of the GPAC championships. Sears placed fourth at both the Midland Fall Invite and the Concordia Spring Invitational. Her career average is 85.64.
