WAYNE, Neb. – The weather warmed up considerably in time for Monday (April 13)’s round at the Wildcat Classic hosted by Wayne State College. Bulldog freshman Amelia Ptacnik found the conditions to her liking as she fired a career-low eight-over-par 80 in round one at Wayne Country Club in Wayne, Neb. Ptacnik and senior Emery Custer have positioned themselves within the top 40 of a tournament featuring 87 golfers. Concordia University, Nebraska Women’s Golf and Morningside are the lone GPAC squads in a field loaded with NCAA Division II competition.
Head Coach Brett Muller’s Bulldogs will enter the second round tied for 10th out of 15 teams. Concordia shot 327 (+39) on Monday. The tournament leader is NCAA D2 Minnesota State University (297).
A Holdrege, Neb., native, Ptacnik had shot 84 in three previous rounds this season before breaking through with an 80 on Monday. Ptacnik birdied on 18 and recorded nine pars in her round. Custer also shot an 80 on the strength of 10 pars. The accomplished Custer is coming off a fourth-place finish at last week’s Concordia Invite. Custer and Ptacnik sit tied for 37th on the individual leaderboard.
The remainder of the Bulldog lineup featured senior Maddie Lewis (82; T-52nd), freshman Olivia James (85; T-69th) and sophomore Savannah McFalls (85; T-69th). Collectively, they helped Concordia earn its fourth lowest 18-hole team score of the 2025-26 season.
The Bulldogs are tied for 10th in the team standings with Minnesota-Crookston. Concordia shot lower on Monday than Bemidji Sate (339), Minnesota-Moorhead (348) and Mary (N.D.) (349).
The Bulldogs also have a second group in action at the Kaitlyn Erickson Invite hosted by Doane. In Monday’s round at Wilderness Ridge Country Club in Lincoln, the field included Concordia’s Makenzie Hughes (93), Brielle Cook (95), Emma McCoy (96), Kaylee Carlson (97) and Abigail Kollbaum (98).
