This will mark the third outing of the spring for Concordia University Women’s Golf. The Bulldogs also competed at the Texas Intercollegiate (March 8-9) and the Kansas Wesleyan Invite (March 29-30). Muller’s team has gotten a boost this spring from the addition of Concordia University, Portland transfer Mia Martin, who has averaged an 18-hole score of 83.3 through four rounds. She has provided competition at the top of the lineup for Kendra Placke (81.6 season average). Placke captured tournament titles in the fall at the Matthew Goette Classic and the Buena Vista Invite.
In 12 total team rounds in 2020-21, the Bulldogs have averaged a team score of 354.3. They won the Matthew Goette Classic championship and placed second at the Buena Vista Invite. Beyond Placke and Martin, the team’s top five (in terms of scoring average) includes Andrea Peterson (90.3), Lauren Havlat (94.0) and Logan Eschliman (95.8).
The competition at the Concordia Bulldog Invite will be fierce. The tournament field includes GPAC frontrunner Morningside and a Dakota Wesleyan squad that currently sits in third place in the conference. In addition, perennially strong Iowa Western Community College will be present while aiming for a third tournament championship already this spring. Also notable, Bellevue University is coming off a title at the TPC Deere Run Classic.
Following action at Highlands, the Bulldogs will look forward to the Wayne State Wildcat Classic coming up April 11-12 at Wayne Country Club.
