Coach Muller’s squad will enter the week having competed in six varsity events (11 rounds) during the 2023-24 season. In the first outing of the spring, the Bulldogs battled brutally cold and windy conditions at the Graceland Spring Invite in Maryville, Mo., and placed third out of seven teams. Sophomore standout Emery Custer placed fifth individually with a score of 98 on a day when breaking 100 proved to be a challenge. On the season, three Bulldogs are averaging scores below 90: Custer (85.8), Logan Eschliman (89.5) and Maddie Lewis (89.9). The team’s average stands at 357.6 with a season low of 341 coming in round two of the Lila Frommelt Fall Classic. The season individual low of 81 is shared by Custer and Lewis.
With the exception of the spring of 2020, Concordia has hosted its own invite each year since 2018. Last year’s Concordia Invite saw the Bulldogs place seventh out of 11 teams with a three-round total of 346-344-350–1,040. Custer finished in a tie for 19th while shooting 81-83-87–251. Iowa Western Community College emerged as the team champion (928 three-round total) and Brooke King of the University of Nebraska-Kearney earned the individual title by carding a three-round score of 224.
Next up for Concordia after its own invite will be the College of Saint Mary Spring Invite on April 11. The tournament will be staged at Tiburon Golf Club in Omaha, Neb.
