Women shoot 395 at Lady Red Raider Classic

Margaret Ingerslew carded a 90 on Sept. 3 at the Lady Red Raider Classic on the Landsmeer course at Orange City, Iowa, and was the only Concordia golfer to finish in the Top 20 (18th). The team finished ninth out of 11 with a 395. “A respectable score,” Coach Carl Everts said, “considering the high wind conditions.” Six other GPAC schools turned in better scores. Other Concordia scores reported include Allison Garrett and Krissi Hoffman 101, Stacy Hartwig 103, Laney Carr 104 and Allison Fees 110. Hartwig uses 7-wood for hole-in-one on par-3 fairway of 155 yards

“I never actually saw the ball go in,” Stacy Hartwig said. “I just thought it was on the green, so I put my club away in my bag and that is when someone said, 'Did that go in the hole?'.
An ACE -- it happened on Sept. 4 on the Lake Creek golf course near Storm Lake, Iowa. The Concordia University sophomore from Archer, Neb., was competing in the Buena Vista Invitational. Country club personnel could not recall the last time anyone recorded a hole-in-one on the course. Hartwig used a 7-wood on the par-3 fairway of 155 yards, which she described as fairly straight and level. Hartwig shot an 87 to finish tied for 15th among 91 individuals, both accomplishments that bettered the records held by Dawn Else in 1997-98.
Her team finished in a tie for ninth at 376 and beat or tied three other GPAC schools, but it was the best the Bulldogs had done at Lake Creek since 1997-98 when they turned in a 391.
”Conditions were windy,” Coach Carl Everts said, but not as bad as Friday at Orange City, Iowa, where the team had a higher score of 395. Allison Garrett also had a good round, the coach said, with an 89 good for a 21st-place tie.
Other Concordia scores reported included Margaret Ingerslew 96, Krissi Hoffman 104, Allison Fees 109 and Lanay Carr 117. Wind at York hampers Bulldog finish of 790 in I-80 Classic

A strong wind on Sept. 9 was a factor for the Concordia women’s golf team as they were only able to card a 410 at the York Country Club.
The Concordia team's 380 on Sept. 10 at the Lochland Country Club course in Hastings placed them fourth out of seven teams competing in the I-80 Classic.
The Bulldogs’ two-day total was 790 with Hastings at 715 the best of seven teams. Margaret Ingerslew was 11th among individual golfers at 101-91--192 and Allison Garrett (102-97) and Krissi Hoffman (104-95) at 199 were in a tie for 18th. Stacy Hartwig shot 200 and Amber Fink 212.
“The Bulldogs did better than a year ago,” Coach Carl Everts said, “both in the team standings and total score.” They were seventh in 2003 at 798. Hoffman, a freshman, was the only Bulldog golfer to score below her average for the I-80.
I-80 team finishes included Hastings 715; Midland Lutheran 749; Baker 765; Concordia 790; Pratt CC 801; Doane 804; and Peru State 894.
Ladies shoot 383 at Wayne State Invitational

The Concordia team's 383 on Sept. 17 placed them seveth out of eight teams competing in the Wayne State Invitational. GPAC rival Dakota Wesleyan topped the meet with a 318.
380 at Doane earns second place in standings

The Concordia women's golf team finished in second place on Sept. 18 at the Fall Tiger Classic at the College Heights Country Club in Crete, Neb. The Bulldogs' 381 was topped only by Hastings with 351.
Allison Garrett shot an 85 for team medalist honors, followed by Margaret Ingerslew and Krissi Hoffman each with 96, Stacy Hartwig 103, Amber Fink 107 and Allison Fees 110.
Other team scores include Doane 389, Dana 401, Peru State 418 and York 442.
Ingerslew shoots 86 at Peru State Invitational

Margaret Ingerslew turned in her best round of the season on Sept. 24 at the Peru State Invitational. The senior from Seward shot an 86 to place fifth in the event at Nebraska City's Table Creek Country Club. Junior varsity players carried the load with class conflicts limiting participation with the team's 420 good for sixth place among the seven teams. "The experience was very good for the three JV players," Coach Carl Everts said. Other Bulldog scores included Lanay Carr 105; Amber Fink 113; Allison Fees 116 and Corrie Johnson 135. Hastings at 345 was the invite champion with Midland Lutheran runner-up with 349.
Hartwig medalist as Bulldogs fifth at Midland Invitational

Stacy Hartwig was the medalist for Concordia with an 87 at the Midland Invitational on Sept. 28, which earned four a fourth-place tie among 56 competitors. The team's 387 earned them fifth place among 11 teams at the Fremont Golf Club. "Overall, a good team effort," Coach Carl Everts said, "considering the competition and difficulty of the course." The best-ever team effort at the Fremont course put them ahead of four other GPAC schools and one NCAA Division II school (Wayne). Margaret Ingerslew shot a 97, Lanay Carr 98, Allison Garrett 105 and Amber Fink 109. Other team scores included Dakota Wesleyan 352, Midland Lutheran 360, UNO 370, Northwestern 384, Wayne State 403, Doane 404, Morningside 425, Dana 428, Peru State 433 and Sioux Falls 434.
Garrett's 82 helps Concordia place 5th at NWU Invite

Allison Garrett shot an 82 on Monday at Highlands to finish in a tie for 10th place in the Nebraska Wesleyan Invitational. It was two strokes off the score of the day's medalist. Her two-day score was 177 after a 95 on Sunday on the Pioneers course in Lincoln. The team finished in fifth place at 729 with daily scores of 369 and 360. Hastings won with a 699, followed by Wesleyan at 710, Midland Lutheran 717 and Newman 724. The Bulldogs finished ahead of GPAC rivals Briar Cliff, Doane and Dana as well as Peru State and York.
Other Concordia scores were Margaret Ingerslew 180 (87-93), good for a 15th overall tie, Krissi Hoffman 183 (91-92), Stacy Hartwig 189 (96-93) and Laney Carr 197 (98-99).
Dakota Wesleyan prevails at Concordia Invitational

Concordia finished fourth with a 369 in the Concordia Invitational at the Seward Country Club on Saturday. Dakota Wesleyan claimed the championship at 328, followed by Midland Lutheran 349 and Hastings 364. Allison Garrett's 90 was the top performance for the Bulldogs with Margaret Ingerslew 91, Lanay Carr 93, Amber Fink and Krissi Hoffman both 96 and Allison Fees 106. Heather Snavely of Dakota Wesleyan was medalist at 76 with Lori Wurdeman of Midland Lutheran and Courtney Peterson of Dakota Wesleyan each shooting 81. Katie Orcutt of Hastings turned in an 82.

Concordia's continued to shoot below its team average as the women's golf team finished eighth among 11 teams after the second round of play on Friday at the Great Plains Athletic Conference championship. Concordia was the host team for the meet. The Bulldogs shot 384-371 for a two-day total of 755.
Dakota Wesleyan led the nearest competitor by 36 strokes with a 651 over the 36 holes to claim the title for the third straight year. They were followed by Hastings at 687, Midland Lutheran 689, Briar Cliff 709, Nebraska Wesleyan 719, Northwestern 726, Sioux Falls 752, Concordia 755, Doane 766, Morningside 786 and Dana 790.
Amanda Young of Dakota Wesleyan was medalist at 157, breaking a tie with Lindsay Wyant of Briar Cliff by scorecard comparison. Margaret Ingerslew led Concordia with a 93-91--184, followed by Stacy Hartwig 92-93--185, Lanay Carr 101-91--192, Allison Garrett 98-96--194 and Krissi Hoffman 105-105--110.
