SEWARD, Neb. – Kierstynn Garner (Offense) and Hannah Kile (Defense) were named GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Women's Soccer Players of the Week by the league office on Tuesday (Sept. 26). Garner, a sophomore from Kearney, Neb., produced a combined three goals and an assist on the week as the Bulldogs won both GPAC matches easily over Dordt (4-0) and Northwestern (8-0). Kile, a sophomore from Lincoln, Neb., led a back line that contributed to two shutout wins last week, limiting their two opponents to a combined 14 shots (five on goal). Kile added a goal apiece (first two of career) in the two blowout victories last week.
Garner sits at the top of the GPAC leaderboard with the most points (20) and is tied with our own Savannah Andrews for the conference leader in goals scored (9). Kierstynn was the team high scorer for the Bulldog offense in 2022, but has surpassed her eight goals from last season through nine games in 2023. She has hit nine scores with fewer shots (29) than any other top five goal scorer in the league, giving her the best shot percentage (.310) in the GPAC.
Kile has led the team in three shutouts in the last four games, conceding a lone goal in the match versus Mount Marty. The defender had only one shot on goal as a freshman but has earned four shots this season getting her first points in two goals as a Bulldog. Hannah has started in all nine games this campaign and continues to help hold the defense to a high standard through tough GPAC tests.
Concordia will face Midland this Wednesday (Sept. 27) and will travel to Dakota Wesleyan on Saturday (Sept. 30).
