SEWARD, Neb. - Kierstynn Garner (KG) played a major role in the high stakes matches this past week to earn the GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Women's Soccer Offensive Players of the Week announced by the league office on Tuesday (Oct. 17). Garner, a sophomore from Kearney, Neb., tallied one assist in the 2-0 win over CSM on Wednesday (Oct. 11). In the match for first place in the GPAC standings, KG scored both goals in the comeback to tie Hastings (2-2), after getting down early in the first half. She shot eight times (five SOG).
Other players around the GPAC had caught up to Garner, but after this week she resends to the top of the leaderboard. Kierstynn has kicked in 15 scores, which puts her at No. 1 in the GPAC and No. 8 in the NAIA for goals scored. Her 15 goals are also the most in a single season by a Concordia player since Sami Birmingham struck 20 goals in 2016. She also finds herself at the top of the GPAC in points (34), which puts her tied for No. 15 in the nation in points.
Concordia is set to match against Briar Cliff on Faber Field in Sioux City, Iowa on Wednesday (Oct. 18). The two teams kick off at 3:30 p.m. CT for an early midweek start.
