The program announced an 18-game 2020 slate (12 conference and six nonconference games) on Tuesday (March 31).
Now back in a top assistant role, Chris Luther stepped in as head coach in 2019 after Greg Henson was hired at NCAA Division II Ferris State University. Goines will have four returning All-GPAC players to work with: defender/midfielder Tori Cera (first team), goalkeeper Lindsey Carley (second team), midfielder Michaela Twito (second team) and defender Grace Soenksen (honorable mention).
In the nonconference portion of the 2020 schedule, the Bulldogs will have rematches with three 2019 foes: Tabor, Bellevue University and Friends University (Kan.). Nearby York College is back on the schedule for the first time since 2016. Concordia will also host Oklahoma City University (Sept. 5) and travel to play Kansas Wesleyan University (Sept. 12).
The Bulldogs have been one of the league’s top programs in recent years. They had a string of five-straight GPAC tournament title game appearances snapped last fall. Concordia won the conference regular-season title in 2017. Last season Hastings and Midland represented the GPAC at the NAIA national tournament. The Bulldogs will be at Midland on Sept. 30 and host Hastings on Oct. 17. The conference slate will open on Sept. 19 with a trip to Mount Marty.
Dates for the GPAC tournament are Nov. 4 for the quarterfinals, Nov. 7 for the semifinals and Nov. 12 for the championship. The NAIA National Championship Opening Round will take place on Nov. 20-21 with the remaining teams then advancing to the final site in Orange Beach, Ala., Nov. 30 – Dec. 5.
