Women’s soccer unveils 2015 schedule
2015 Concordia women’s soccer schedule
SEWARD, Neb. – Coming off a GPAC tournament title and first-ever appearance at the national tournament, the Concordia University women's soccer program now looks forward to the 2015 season. Head coach Greg Henson, set to enter his third year at the helm of the program, will display his 2015 team in its first official game on Aug. 26 when Bethel College (Kan.) visits Bulldog Stadium, as announced along with the complete schedule on Thursday.
With new GPAC member College of Saint Mary joining the conference, the league schedule has expanded to 11 games. Concordia will take on the Flames for the first time as conference foes on Oct. 31 as part of Senior Day in Seward. The Bulldogs will play 10 of their 18 regular-season contests at home.
The nonconference slate includes a rematch of last year’s national tournament opening round tilt that featured Concordia and Benedictine College. The Bulldogs will host the powerful Raven program on Sept. 12. The schedule also includes non-league dates with in-state foes in Bellevue University (Aug. 29), York College (Sept. 1) and Grace University (Sept. 9).
In addition, Henson will travel his team to Denver, Colo., for a pair of games that will play out Sept. 19-20. Concordia will go head-to-head with Sterling College (Kan.) and Johnson & Wales University (Colo.) as part of the road trip.
Of the eight Bulldogs who received some form of all-conference recognition in 2014, four are set to return this fall. That list includes leading goal scorer Jessica Skerston, who topped the team with 17 goals as a freshman. Henson will also welcome back junior-to-be goalkeeper Chrissy Lind, who owns program records for shutouts in a single season (10) and for a career (13).
